Report by Steven Feddery
Twenty members arrived at CMR this morning to participate in the first club competition of 2008. The weather gods were not kind to us, as a strong wind straight down the centre of the reservoir made fishing difficult from most pegs. This was further compounded with the arrival of bright sunshine. Most members fished the reservoir whilst a few fished the Upper Chew and Publow lake. Members who drew the top end of the reservoir commented on their frustration at seeing lots of fish, including some sizeable ones, swimming underneath the platforms and close to the edge. Despite watching these fish move to inspect the various fly patterns put in front of them, inducing a take proved easier said than done. Despite the unfavourable conditions the pre-weigh in debrief showed that spirits were high and all participants helped to create a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
I would like to thank you, on behalf of the committee, for the way you all approached the day.
